Tiddlywinks and Ofsted
Tiddlywinks organisation is registered under Ofsted. The provision was last inspected in July 2015 and was given the outcome of ‘GOOD’ .The report was extremely favourable and complimentary of all the support and guidance that we provide to our families.

Ofsted Report 9th July 2015

The Tiddlywinks service began from the need to offer support to hard to reach families in need in the local area. These services have continued to grow and expand as the local family’s needs change & continue. All its provision works in partnership with other local services, Arbourthorne Community Primary School, Wybourn Children’s Centre, Local Learning Mentors, Health Visitors, and the Health Centres in the area.

A high percentage of its staff base is from the local area. Staff members are encouraged and supported to attend relevant training to advance their qualifications and to extend their personal knowledge & understanding. This in turn provides Tiddlywinks with a skilled local work force and an ability to provide a high quality childcare service.

The Centre:

Tiddlywinks developed a derelict works department site to create a local community based childcare provision. Tiddlywinks is a not-for-profit charitable company, which began life as a small community toddler group in 1997 organised by local people.
The Arbourthorne estate is a recognised priority area and has substantially high levels of unemployment; low-income and a large proportion of lone parent families.

Tiddlywinks Centre opened in April 2005 and works within the local Children Centre partnership and currently serves around 156 families.
The site provides a 65 place full day care provision, and 16 places for holiday play care.
In September 2013, Tiddlywinks extended the provision to deal with the demand of children being eligible for the 2 Year Old Free Early Learning, which also helps the centre being sustainable since losing sustainability funding from the local authority.
